Public Health System Improvement

The Public Health System Improvement Office (PHSIO) within the Public Health and Safety Division (PHSD) works with Montana’s 60 local and tribal public health jurisdictions and partners to improve the health of Montanans. The PHSIO is comprised of three programs: Local and Tribal Support, Performance Excellence, and Workforce Development. Our team of eight people is dedicated to improving Montana's public health system. The work of the PHSIO is supported by the Public Health Infrastructure Grant (PHIG).

Montana’s first-ever assessment on the delivery of the Foundational Public Health Services (FPHS), or the minimum services every governmental public health agency should provide. It shows our strengths and areas for improvement so we can strengthen our public health system to meet the needs of today and tomorrow.
