Pay by Check or Money Order

To pay by check or money order, please mail to:

Check should be made payable to DPHHS, and please add your license numbers or invoice number to the memo line. 

Online Payment

To begin the process for online payment, you will need:

  • Invoice number
  • Banking information – either a credit/debit card or the bank information found on the bottom of your checks.
  • Okta account – If you have previously created an Okta account, you may use that same account.

NOTE - You MUST have an invoice number to use this online system.

 

Request an Invoice

  • Invoices for renewal will not be available until after October 1st.
  • The invoice number will be printed on the courtesy reminder that you will receive in the mail after October 1st.
  • You can also request an invoice number directly from your local Environmental Health Department, or DPHHS at 406-444-2837 or email hhsfcs@mt.gov

Make payments online using:

  • Credit card (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express)
  • Debit Card
  • ACH

 

Payment Processing fee

A transaction fee will be added to your license fee:

  • All online payments will have a transaction fee of 7.5%
  • A credit card payment will also have a settlement fee. The settlement fee varies by credit card issuer (Discover, Visa, AMEX, etc.). It is estimated at 2.5%.

Commonly Asked Questions

  When is my license fee due?

  • Licenses expire on December 31 st every year and must be paid on or before December 31 st to avoid a late fee or inactivation. Renewal fees that are postmarked by December 31 st will not incur a late fee.

  What happens if I don’t pay my fee on time?

  • Licenses not paid in full by December 31 st will incur a late fee of $25.00. If the license isn’t paid within 3 months of its expiration, it will be canceled. The licensee will then need to contact their local Environmental Health Department to reactivate the license or restart the licensing process. Late fees cannot be waived.

  I paid my license fee twice; how do I get a refund?

  • Overpayments will be refunded as soon as possible. To get your refund earlier, please email your payment information to licensing at hhsfcs@mt.gov. Please be aware that the online processing fee is nonrefundable.

  I’ve closed/sold my business, do I have to pay the license fee?

  I don’t know my invoice number. Can you send another one?

  I haven’t received my license; can you email me one?

 

How To Create an Okta Account

If you do not have an OKTA login, then you will need to sign up for OKTA. 

  1. While at the My Health Department website
  1. Select “Sign Up” near the upper right corner of the page.

  1. Scroll to the bottom and click on the Sign-Up link.

  1. Enter the required information in the fields Then click the Sign-Up Button.

  1. You will receive a verification email from noreply@okta.com with the subject line "Activate Account".

    PLEASE NOTE: If you do not see the email in your inbox, it may have been sent to your spam or junk folder. You can always try using your mailbox's search field with either the sender’s address or the subject line to find the email.

  2. Once you find the email, click the “Activate Account” button.
  3. You will be asked to verify your email account and to set up a security question. Follow the prompts to complete these tasks.
  4. Return to the My Health Department website to complete your business.
