M-SPIRIT Training

The next training is scheduled for Tuesday, June 5th at 9am. The training will take about an hour to complete. Click here for the Web-ex information. It is required that the content of this training be received by all WIC staff. Please document the training with the attendance form and return it to the State office once complete.

New Core Nutrition Messages from USDA

USDA has created new core nutrition messages and materials. These messages and materials can be used with WIC participants. For more information and the web link, click here.

Congratulations to Briana Wallace of the Kalispell WIC agency. Briana knew to type the date an alert is created at the beginning of the alert text when a new alert is created to help make the way alerts display when the participant folder is opened more complete and easier to understand (as there is no indication of when the alert was first created).

Farm Direct

Outreach Idea for June

Farmers' Market season has arrived! Please remind participants that they can use their Fruit and Vegetable Benefit with Farm Direct Farmers. A list of authorized farmers is included in this newsletter. The Montana WIC Program is working with the Share Our Strength/No Kid Hungry campaign to increase awareness of nutrition programs and to reduce the number of hungry children in Montana. Thank you for your ongoing efforts!

MAWA Officer Election Ballot

The President of the Montana Association of WIC Agencies continues to request that officer vacancies be satisfied through a nomination process. We are seeking a nomination for the treasurer position. We have received a nomination for president elect but will continue to accept nominations until the positions are filled.
