CDC Breastfeeding Report Card 2014

Breastfeeding information gathered in the 2012 and 2013 Immunization Survey based on 2011 births is available in this report. Also breastfeeding rate information for the prior years, 2009 and 2010, and 2011 all in the same format is available. Montana saw a slight increase in initiation. Currently we are third highest for initiation in the nation. Duration rates for 3 months and 6 months declined back to the rate of 2 years ago. Even with the decline, Montana is still higher than the national rate. Exclusive breastfeeding rates held for 3 months at a consistent rate, but rates for exclusive breastfeeding at 6 months were down again. Also, Montana ranks number one for number of CLCs per 1,000s live births. Montana ranks #17 out of 51 for the number of IBCLC's per 1,000s live births. There is more information in the report than just the breastfeeding rates. Happy reading. You can earn 0.5 WIC CEUs for reading the report and submitting the Post Article, Webinar and Teleconference CEU form.
