Montana State Planning Grant for the Uninsured Survey Information

Survey Information:  Prior to receiving the State Planning Grant, Montana relied on data collected through federal or private efforts to describe the uninsured.  This grant provided us with the financial resources to collect and analyze Montana specific data describing the uninsured.

Household Survey – was conducted by the University of Montana Bureau of Business and Economic Research between November 2002 and February 2003.  The primary focus of the survey was to collect information on those currently uninsured or at risk of losing their current coverage.  Statewide data, as well as regional data is available on this DPHHS website.

Employer Survey –was conducted by the University of Montana Bureau of Business and Economic Research in February and March 2003.  Understanding why so many Montana businesses do not offer insurance and identifying what employers think should be done to address health insurance coverage was a critical part of the grant.  Summary results of the survey are available on this DPHHS website.
