Genetic Evaluation & Outreach Services
This clinic service is available for evaluation of patients of any age suspected or known to have a genetic disorder. Genes are the basic units of inheritance. There are many reasons why a child may have a genetic disorder. They may be born with an abnormality in their genes (Downs syndrome or Turners syndrome) or there may be environmental reasons (like drinking alcohol or using drugs during a pregnancy). Geneticists and genetic counselors from Shodair Hospital in Helena provide the services at this clinic, which may include suggestions for helping a child in school, proper diet, prognosis or genetic tendency for this disability to reoccur in later pregnancies.
