What are STDs? Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are a group of diseases or infections that can be transmitted by direct sexual contact. They include syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia, HIV, genital herpes, genital warts, hepatitis B and others. Some STDs can be treated, others cannot and may lead to serious chronic conditions.
