DPHHS and AmeriCorps healthy breakfast food drive enters final week

Healthy Breakfast Food Drive to support the Helena Food Share

There is still time to support the Department of Public Health and Human Services and AmeriCorps healthy breakfast food drive to support local food pantries.

The food drive is being held this year in honor of Martin Luther King Day.

According to DPHHS AmeriCorps VISTA Leader Amanda Paramore, every year Americans across the country work to address the needs of their community.  In honor of MLK Day, DPHHS and AmeriCorps volunteers are coordinating the food drive which began on January 17 and concludes Friday, January 31.

"Every donation helps," Paramore said. "So far, the support for this event has been outstanding, but we're hoping that we can bring in even more donations in the last few days of the food drive."

All donations received in Helena will support the Helena Food Share.

Donations of healthy, non-perishable food items can be dropped off at the following locations:  Fire Tower Coffee, Starbucks on Prospect, Albertsons on Fee Street, Van's Thriftway, Real Foods, Lewis & Clark Brewery, DPHHS Offices (Sanders, Arcade, Cogswell, Old Federal, Sage, 1400 Carter Drive, 2401 Colonial Drive), and Other State Offices (Mitchell Building, Governor's Office Lobby, and Walt Sullivan Building)
