Public meeting to focus on needs
of people with disabilities

A public hearing focusing on the needs of people with disabilities will be held Thursday, March 24, 2011 from 3 to 4:15 p.m. via videoconference in nine Montana cities, the Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) announced today.

The meeting is sponsored by the Montana Vocational Rehabilitation Program and the Statewide Independent Living Council.

“The purpose of the forum allows people with disabilities to share their comments and suggestions regarding vocational rehabilitation and independent living services provided by the state,” said DPHHS Vocational Rehabilitation program manager Mike Hermanson. “The comments help both programs evaluate their services in an effort to best meet the needs of their consumers.”

The hearing will be held simultaneously at the following nine videoconference sites around the state. 

Billings: MSU-Billings, 1500 University Dr., Education Bldg., Room 158
Bozeman: MSU, EPS Building, South 7th and Grant, Burns Center, Room 126
Butte:  Montana Tech, 1300 West Park Street, ELCB, Room 225
Glasgow:  Glasgow High School, No. 1 Scottie Dr
Great Falls: Great Falls College of Technology, 2100 16th Ave S, Room B-133
Helena: Old Livestock Bldg, 1310 East Lockey, Room 105
Kalispell: Flathead Valley Community College, 777 Grandview Dr.

Missoula: U of M, Corner of Arthur and Eddy , Gallagher Building, Room 104

Anyone unable to attend the hearing may send written comments to Mike Hermanson, Program Manager, Montana Vocational Rehabilitation Program, PO Box 4210, Helena, MT  59604, or to mhermanson@mt.gov.  The deadline for written comments is March 31, 2010, and they will be given the same weight as comments made in person.
