Smokefree Ads Launch with the Clintons at Miller’s Crossing
The high energy rock and roll antics of the Clintons will stir up some smokefree air at Miller’s Crossing in Helena, Mont., on Wednesday, September 24. The event marks the official kickoff of a new Montana Tobacco Use Prevention Program (MTUPP) ad campaign.
The ‘I Can’t Wait – Expect Smokefree’ campaign is designed to draw attention to everyone’s right to breathe clean air, and features the Clintons band’s support of Montana’s Clean Indoor Air Act. The ads started running earlier this month.
“We now know that as little as 30 minutes of exposure to secondhand smoke results in damage that increases the risk of a heart attack,’ said Linda Lee, MTUPP section supervisor for the Department of Public Health and Human Services. “This new ad campaign draws attention to the fact that the vast majority of Montanans support smokefree public places, including workplaces like bars, restaurants and casinos.”
When Montana’s Clean Indoor Air Act is fully implemented a year from now, on October 1, 2009, all Montana bars and casinos will be required to be smokefree. “We chose to hold the event at Miller’s Crossing in recognition of their choice to go smokefree early, well before when the law will require them to do so,” adds Lee.
The event begins at 8 p.m. with a short presentation followed by a Clintons’ concert. There is an $8 cover charge at the door. For more information, contact Lee at 406-444-9617 or 406-431-4505.
