Montana Businesses Recognized for Worklife Wellness Leadership

The Montana Council on Worklife Wellness, an advisory council of the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS), recently recognized Montana organizations that have demonstrated a commitment to employee health by offering comprehensive worksite wellness programs. DPHHS Director Joan Miles gave the inaugural Excellence in Worklife Wellness Awards to recipients during the second worklife wellness conference May 8 in Missoula.

Award recipients had applied for bronze, silver or gold awards. Each level of award stipulated quality standards the applicants met in areas such as management commitment, wellness interventions, a tracking system, measurement of outcomes, and leadership.

The following businesses received Bronze Awards:
St. John’s Lutheran Ministries, Billings. Kent Burgess, CEO.
Billings Clinic, Billings. Nicholas Wolter, MD, CEO.
State of Montana, Health Care & Benefits Division, Helena. Brian Schweitzer, Governor.
Glacier Bancorp, Inc., Kalispell. Mick Blodnick, CEO.
City of Missoula. John Engen, Mayor.
Montana University System Wellness Program, Missoula. Sheila Stearns, Commissioner of Higher Education.

Two organizations were given Silver Awards:
Carroll College, Helena. Dr. Thomas Trebon, President.
Immanuel Lutheran Home, Kalispell. Jeffrey Evans, Executive Director.

One applicant received the Gold Award:
Northwest Healthcare, Inc. The Summit Fitness Center, Kalispell. Velinda Stevens, CEO/President
