Sticker Promotion to Raise Cancer Awareness

The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) announced Tuesday a new sticker promotion with Town Pump stores as a way to increase awareness of a statewide program that provides eligible women with free mammograms and Pap tests.

During the month of April, the packaging on loaves of bread in Town Pump stores across the state will feature a special sticker that promotes the Montana Breast and Cervical Health Program (MBCHP) of DPHHS by displaying the program’s toll-free number, 1-888-803-9343.

“It’s that free phone call to the MBCHP that could end up saving a life, since the program offers preventive cancer screening to uninsured women in Montana,” said Julie Galstad, health education specialist for MBCHP. “Town Pump and the MBCHP hope their collaboration will help many Montana women access this unique program.”

A total of 25,000 stickers will be used in 80 participating Town Pump stores, Galstad said.

The MBCHP provides comprehensive breast and cervical cancer screening coverage in all 56 counties. The services include free mammograms to women ages 50 to 64 and Pap tests to women ages 35 to 64 that meet eligibility requirements. To learn more about the program, visit www.cancer.mt.gov or call the toll-free number.

Town Pump is a Montana-based corporation that deals in convenience stores, casinos, car washes, propane services, and hotels.
