Anti-Tobacco Program Invites Teens to Attend Summit

The Montana Tobacco Use Prevention Program (MTUPP) of the state Department of Public Health and Human Services is looking for middle and high school students ages 13-18 who would be interested in participating in an anti-tobacco summit June 19-22 at Montana State University in Bozeman.

The summit, entitled “reACT Against Corporate Tobacco,” will bring together 175 teens from across the state to learn about tobacco prevention, activism, and media messaging. The goal of the summit is to create a statewide movement of teens against commercial tobacco use, according to Katy Pezzimenti, youth advocacy coordinator for MTUPP.

Participation in the summit is free, including meals and accommodations at MSU. Charter buses will transport students from Great Falls, Kalispell, and Glendive, stopping in cities along the way to Bozeman to pick up participants.
