Health Professionals Invited to Diabetes Conference

A conference for health-care professionals on the treatment and management of diabetes will be held Oct. 6-7 at the Doubletree Hotel in Missoula. The registration deadline is Sept. 26.

Among the topics to be discussed will be the roles of diet and exercise in managing and preventing diabetes, diabetic retinopathy, rational clinical management of diabetes, and the relationship between diabetes and erectile dysfunction.

Entitled “Diabetes Care in Montana, 2005,” the conference will feature nationally recognized faculty, including Dr. Guenther Boden, Temple University, Philadelphia; Drs. Brian Sippy and James Randall, Rocky Mountain Eye Care Center, Missoula; Dr. Lawrence Klee, a Billings urologist; Larry Verity, San Diego State University; Liz Johnson, Montana Diabetes Project, Helena; and Helen Amundson, Helena Cooperative Health Center.

The conference is sponsored by the Montana Diabetes Project, a program of the state Department of Public Health and Human Services; the University of Montana School of Pharmacy; and the University of Washington School of Medicine.

Continuing education credits will be available. The registration fee is $75.00.
