PRTF Waiver

Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services, Health Resources Division, is pleased to announce the approval from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services of the home and community based services waiver for youth age 6 through 16 with serious emotional disturbance (SED) who, without the waiver services, would be in a psychiatric residential treatment facility (PRTF). Montana was one of ten states awarded the PRTF Demonstration Grant through the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005. This PRTF Waiver program is not available statewide; it began in Yellowstone County in February, 2008 with the capacity to serve up to 20 youth. The PRTF Waiver program will move into four other counties within the next five years.
