In January 2008, the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) plans to submit a request to extend the 1115 Basic Medicaid Waiver (BMW) for Able-Bodied Adults to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services for approval. The waiver is available for viewing and public comments are welcome through February 15, 2008.
The waiver will expire on January 31, 2009 and DPHHS will request an extension to continue the program for an additional three years through January 31, 2012. The request contains no changes to the current program.
The BMW offers a limited Medicaid benefit package of optional services for those adults age 21 to 64 who are not pregnant or disabled. The waiver populations are those adults who are eligible for Medicaid under Sections 1925 or 1931 of the Social Security Act.
The Medicaid Program Information Handbook explains the program’s benefits and can be found at http://medicaidprovider.hhs.mt.gov/pdf/medinfo.pdf. Comments and questions regarding the Basic Medicaid Waiver are encouraged. Please direct any comments to Jo Thompson, Medicaid Analyst, Director’s Office, PO Box 4210, Helena, Montana 59604, (406)444-2584 or via email at jothompson@mt.gov.
