Welcome to the website of the Montana Environmental Public Health Tracking Project.
The purpose of this website is to provide information and resources to citizens and organizations and promote communication among interested stakeholders about Environmental Public Health Tracking.
A new program providing a strategic opportunity to address some of the most challenging public health problems. Environmental Public Health Tracking is the ongoing collection, integration, analysis and interpretation of data about environmental hazards, exposure to environmental hazards, and human health effects potentially related to exposure to environmental hazards. Montana was recently awarded funding for "planning and capacity building" for a tracking system. See CDC link for more information. http://www.cdc.gov/nceh/tracking/
Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) and Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) submitted an application for funding in August 2002. Montana was one of 17 sites awarded funding to participate in building a national Public Health Tracking network in October 2002. Montana has a three-year cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for planning and building capacity for an Environmental Public Health Tracking System. This project is funded 100% through federal funding. Montana DPHHS will receive approximately $510,000 per year for three years for this project.
