Additional Resources
After screening and conducting the brief intervention, appropriate referrals for support programs and alcohol information is a helpful next step. With a patient who engages in “risky” drinking, you may want to recommend they have their alcohol use further evaluated. These patients should be given a list of local and national resources, education information, and a referral to his/her primary care provider.
