HIRMS
is part of developing technologies for enhanced communications between
agencies, public health and all levels of government. Developing
Project 25 radio and Mobile Data Terminal systems will providing
a unified architectural approach to integration and information-sharing
that meets the security and interoperability requirements of comprehensive
information management system. New technology in communications,
GPS and mapping are changing the way emergency services handles incidents,
locates resources and communicates. Project 25 standards for radio
communications will afford response agencies with a renewed ability
to communicate clearly and securely with other agencies or facilities.
Agencies will be able to exchange more relevant and useful incident
data than is possible with current systems. A developing mobile data
terminal backbone will help enable transmission of geographic, vehicle
tracking, mapping and other important data.
Many medical facilities
and EMS services are using base station and mobile radios which are
aged and outdated. Currently, DPHHS homeland security grant funds
are being used to upgrade communications in numerous hospitals and
ambulances to P-25 standards. Every county in the state is also actively
planning and/or developing P-25 systems for all emergency services.
Relationship / Integration With Other Modules:
- Integrates with
the Patient Tracking module for broadcast of patient & vehicle
information.
