Program Responsibilities:

Supervises development and implementation of an organized, statewide emergency medical services, trauma care and prevention program.

Develops and coordinates a strategic planning process. Manages Section budgets, funding, and contracts.

Coordinates grant procurement and management activities.

Represents the Department on various state-wide councils, committees and task forces including the state 9-1-1 Advisory Council, State Interoperable Executive Committee, Highway Safety Traffic Reocords Committee and others.

Plans and implements a prehospital data collection and quality improvement system for emergency medical services.

Manages the Section’s EMS System strategic planning project.

Supervises the EMS licensing and enforcement program.

Manages the poison control system.

Manages bioterrorism grant planning and disaster planning.

Program Responsibilities:

Manages day-to-day development of the statewide trauma system.

Coordinating adoption of the administrative rules for implementation of the Montana Trauma Care System

Coordinating adoption of a Montana Trauma System Plan.

Coordinating administration of the state trauma registry including education, implementation, data analysis and reports.

Meets quarterly with the Regional Trauma Advisory Committees to solicit input and to help coordinate priorities among the three RTACs.

Meets quarterly with the State Trauma Care Committee to present recommendations for trauma system improvement, and to receive input, suggestions and directions.

Provides technical expertise and assistance to Montana hospitals through consultation visits and helps prepare facilities for trauma center designation.

Facilitates and coordinates trauma related education offerings (RMRTS, trauma coordinator conference, PHTLS, GEMS, TBI, TERN/STN, TNCC, and Trauma TEAM)

Administers HRSA trauma grant including all grant activities, reports and continuing applications.

Manages day-to-day operation of EMS transportation program including licensing and inspections.

Serves as the Section’s enforcement officer. Investigates complaints or enforcement actions that may be necessary.

Assists with writing and adoption of new licensing rules and makes recommendations for improvement and modifications.

Manages unprotected exposure program.

Coordinates statewide communications inventory.

Administers and manages the HRSA AED grant.

Manages community AED program.

Manages Secton's prevention programs .

Serves as the EMSC program coordinator

Provides technical assistance to state and regional trauma committees, hospitals, community agencies, SAFE KIDS, FICMR, state agencies and others in the design and evaluation of injury prevention and control activities.

Coordinates and guides the implementation of the Injury Prevention and Control Plan.

Administers and manages the HRSA EMS for Children Partnership grant.
