Parenting Support Groups are offered to parents in the tri-county area of Deer Lodge, Granite and Powell counties. The PCA Family Resource Center is currently becoming certified in the “Parents as Teachers” Program.

The Family Tree Center offers "Nurturing Parents" programs to parents of children from birth to 18 years old. The program offers parents opportunities to learn more about parenting, child development, and affective discipline. Free respite day care is available. The Center offers a lending library. Additionally, the Family Tree Center, working with the Parenting Place in Missoula, will provide additional training and technical assistance to other agencies and entities that serve families who are impacted by the incarceration of one or both parents. The Family Tree Center also continues to provide training in the Nurturing Parents Program, the Second Step Violence Program, Family Support Programming and Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect.

THRIVE established the Belgrade Parent Place as a place for parents to receive parenting classes, support groups, resource library materials, home visiting, and community resource referrals. THRIVE offers Love and Logic and Parents as Teachers classes, family activities, and the “Dynamite Dads” support group.

The Sunburst Community Service Foundation (Parent Place) offers parenting education classes with the Nurturing Program, play groups, one-on-one parent coaching, a family resource room, community resource and referral, and “Family Night Out” events. The Parent Place offers a “warm line”. The Parent Place also coordinates a volunteer program to provide coats, boots, and other needed items or services for area families.

Dawson County Healthy Communities offers Love and Logic parenting classes, support groups for young parents, self-help parent support groups, and the Nurturing Fathers program. Recently, Grandparents raising Grandchildren support groups have been established.

The HAPI (Hardin Area Parents Inspiring Kids) Center provides services to families in Crow Agency and surrounding areas. HAPI uses two programs that address the parenting needs of the community with “Sacred Hoop” and “Nurturing Parents” programs. “Sacred Hoop” is aimed specifically at American Indian parents and is culturally sensitive to their unique background. The Center provides materials related to parenting for use and check-out by local families.

The Parenting Place provides a combination of home-visiting, respite child care, parent education classes and parent/child visits to a highly underserved population of at-risk families who are currently involved in pre-release or parole programs through the Missoula Correctional Services. The Parenting Place also offers technical assistance to connect with other pre-release centers and prisons in Montana. The Parenting Place would like to establish a strong network among prison and pre-release locations in Montana. The Parenting Place has begun formation of a statewide coalition to synchronize parent support efforts for families affected by incarceration.

The Flathead Reservation & Lake County Coalition for Kids, Inc. provides family and community based programs to at-risk, school-aged children and their families. Services are offered to preschool children and their families through the “Cherry Blossoms” and “Little Cherries” programs. The program includes Love and Logic Parenting and the Nurturing Program which offers parenting education, skills, and classes.

District II Alcohol and Drug Program offers community-wide parenting classes using the “Nurturing Program.” The ultimate goal is to foster positive family relationships. District II Alcohol and Drug Program will continue to strengthen families in Richland County by building and enhancing the program first established by Richland County Coalition Against Domestic Violence.
