Because the BRFSS surveys gather information pertaining to a wide variety of health-related behaviors, the benefits are many. The special reports below are representative of the valuable information gathered by BRFSS and used by agencies and institutes to determine priority health issues, develop strategic plans, monitor the effectiveness of intervention measures, and educate the public, health community, and policy-makers about behaviors impacting the public’s health.

The Montana Disability and Health Program is a partnership between DPHSS and the UM Rural Institute to promote the health of people with disabilities and develop services to prevent secondary conditions. To assist in that goal, data was collected in 2004 via BRFSS to determine the number of homes in Montana that provide essential access to a home’s exterior entry doors.
