Youth & Young Adult Suicide
Prevention Task Force
The Montana Youth and Young Adult Suicide Prevention Task Force was created in February 2006 to support the Youth and Young Adult Suicide Prevention Project of the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services. The project was funded by the Garrett Lee Smith Memorial Act Grant through the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).
The department director appointed 33 members to the task force who represent various interests throughout the state. The group meets quarterly to explore challenges that Montana cultures and communities face in preventing youth suicide. The task force works to create greater awareness of the issue and coordinate existing efforts to prevent youth suicide across the state.
