Documentation – hopefully will be improved by M-SPIRIT
Nutrition/BF education – necessary for the integrity of the program
Lead agency responsibilities – remailing,
answering questions, putting out fires caused by
misunderstanding,
pacifying satellite agency because fiscal reimbursement takes
so
long
Client services – phonecalls, physical data,
checks, appointments, rescheduling missed appointments
Correspondence/reporting to and from State WIC
2) What does Montana WIC require
of local agencies which is not required by WIC
Federal Regulations?
No income households must declare “in kind” housing or benefits
No income households must sign a statement of no income
Infant Hgb at 8 ½-9
½ mos, again at age 12 mos,
again at age 18 mos, again at 24 mos.
(as opposed to sometime
between 9-12 mos., then 6 mos. later, then 24 mos.)
Hgb within 30 days of cert (as
opposed to 90 days)
Most certifications end on birthdates (as opposed to end of birthdate month for infant, pp, bf)
Discourages mailing checks
RD contacts with high priority participants, rather than referrals (not
positive about this one)
