Hi Joan-
1) Biggest
"time-takers" in WIC:
Telephone
calls, messages, re-scheduling, re-scheduling, re-scheduling…
Duplication of
processes--paper & computer
Required multiple
paper forms for special formulas
2) State Requirements
but not Federal Regulations
State CPA
requirements much more restrictive than Federal; we need uniformity and
consistency across MT about who functions
as a CPA; requirements are a barrier to finding qualified candidates to hire.
The zero income
form: state guidelines should be
consistent with federal guidelines; 30
day leeway for income per federal level
vs immediate per state.
Initial cert of
the infant vs being automatically on WIC as newborn to a WIC mom. Newborns are at risk for exposure to viral and bacterial illnesses circulating in
the community when required to report within the first days/weeks of life. Also,
it is a hardship for WIC parents to comply with this requirement.
