The Montana Department of Public health and Human Services (DPHHS) HIV/STD Section is charged with providing programs and services for the HIV positive individual to ensure continuity and coordination of care. DPHHS works in collaboration with local city-county health departments, as well as community based organizations to provide the following services for eligible HIV positive individuals.

AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP) - This program provides anti-retrovirals, protease inhibitors, hydroxyurea and pentamidine to qualified individuals at no cost. For more information or an application, contract Judy Nielsen at the Montana HIV/STD Project, 444-4744.

Health Insurance Continuum of Coverage Program (HICCP) - This program allows eligible individuals to continue their private health insurance by paying all or part (up to $500) of their monthly premiums. HIV Case Management - The goal of the case managers is to deliver comprehensive outpatient health and support services to meet the HIV- related needs of individuals and families with HIV. Eight case management sites in the state serve the governor's five planning regions. Contact the Montana HIV/STD Program at 444-3565 or the contact number for your area.
To be eligible for these services the patient cannot be eligible for Medicaid, Medicare, IHS, or Veterans Health benefits.

Patient Care Providers by City
Medicaid provides basic medical coverage for those with little or no resources or income. The program may also provide catastrophic coverage to those with some resources and income but whose medical expenses are excessive. Early Intervention Program
This program is intended to provide CD4 testing and a medical evaluation for HIV positive individuals as well as educational sessions with an early intervention counselor. The sessions cover a wide range of wellness oriented topics.
Partner Notification Services
This is a service available to HIV positive individuals to assist in the notification of sex and needle-sharing partners to encourage them to be tested for HIV. This service is provided by local health departments and on occasion, HIV prevention sites.
