Distance Learning

Satellite Image

The Montana Public Health Training Institute coordinates distance learning activities for the state's public health workforce.

Satellite downlink sites are being developed as part of the Health Alert Network so that health departments can receive important training and updates from CDC and other sources.

Notices of satellite broadcasts and other offerings such as webcasts and on-line tutorials are distributed to public health and environmental health professionals, hospitals, school nurses, and others via email.

Webcasts
The opportunities to view webcasts of previous broadcasts on your computer are plentiful. For an extensive list, go to Idaho Department of Health's webstreaming page for links to all available webcasts: http://www.cdhd.org/videoconferences/streamed_conferences.asp. The sites offering the webcasts will have instructions on how to view the webcast and download free software needed on your computer.

Also check the Public Health Training Network site for nationally available satellite broadcasts, registration for CEU's, and satellite coordinates.

Computer Classes for Public Health
We are developing a learner support system so that we can take better advantage of distance learning opportunities in Montana. This includes computer classes and access to library materials.

Call us at 406-444-6820 to get on the email list to receive announcements about distance learning and other public health training opportunities.
