Montana Public Health Workforce Development Survey - Summary
Administered online, Fall 2004
More than 130 public health professionals throughout Montana provided important input about workforce development by responding to an online survey conducted in late October 2004. The public health professionals included environmental health experts, public health nurses, administrators, health educators, and others.
More than one-half of the respondents represented local jurisdictions:
- 40 percent-more than 20,000 county population
- 60 percent-less than 20,000 county population
More than one-third of respondents represented state employees.
More than two percent of responses reflected Tribal input.
Most respondents gave positive feedback on the Montana Public Health Summer Institute, Basic Computer Courses for Public Health Professionals, TRAIN Learning Management System, and distance education opportunities-videoconferencing in particular. Some however, provided less than positive, but necessary feedback about meeting Tribal training needs, TRAIN, training schedules, and training in general.
The Montana Public Health Training Institute of DPHHS and the Workforce Development Committee of the Public Health Improvement Task Force greatly appreciate the participation in this survey. This information, and other resources, will be used to inform training plans in 2005.
