Information and Links for Child Care Providers

How can child care providers make a difference?

With 35 percent children under the age of 5 attending some type of nonrelative day care arrangement (US Census, 2002), it is obvious that children are spending a significant amount of time outside the home. That is why it is important for child care providers to understand how they can impact antibiotic resistance and cut down on the spread of germs.

Understand the problem. Know when children should be on antbiotics and when antibiotics will not help.

Know when children should stay home and be familiar with exclusion guidelines.
