Laboratory Emergency Preparedness
Overview
In Montana, the Laboratory Services Bureau (LSB) is committed to continual improvement of public health and environmental laboratory preparedness and response to all emergencies. Since the disaster of September 11th, a much focused program has been aimed at collaborating with our partners in order to prepare and help local health departments, and our states' hospital and clinical laboratories respond to any event. In the past three years, we have improved our laboratories' capacities to respond to biological, chemical and radiological threats. The LSB has improved communication with our partners and intends to incorporate our response to emergencies, whether it is terrorist acts, natural disasters such as forest fires or earthquakes, or pandemics such as influenza, into the framework of every day business.
